Roads leading to Zubin Potok are passable again as of noon, after being blocked for more than two hours, because the Serbs guarding the barricade in Zupce did not allow EULEX vehicles to pass towards the Brnjak administrative crossing in northern Kosovo.

Roads leading to Zubin Potok are passable again as of noon, after being blocked for more than two hours, because the Serbs guarding the barricade in Zupce did not allow EULEX vehicles to pass towards the Brnjak administrative crossing in northern Kosovo.

Three EULEX vehicles headed back in the direction of southern part of Kosovska Mitrovica, after which the Serbs lifted the barricade and KFOR resumed traffic at its check point in Jagnjenica.

Serbs used lorries to block the road in Zupce, where EULEX members from the three vehicles are still located. The Serbs demand that they go to Brnjak only under KFOR escort.

KFOR troops exited their base in Jagnjenica and blocked the main road between Kosovska Mitrovica and Ribarice in Zupce.

Serbs from northern Kosovo obstructed the freedom of movement for EULEX personnel in earlier days as well. Roads leading to the Brnjak crossing were blocked for almost 5 hours on Sunday.

Three EULEX vehicles were stopped in Zvecan on Sunday and turned back, as they were unable to reach the Jarinje administrative crossing.

Freedom of movement should be discussed at the regular meeting between Serb officials from northern Kosovo and international representatives on Wednesday.

Until then, Serbs insist that EULEX be escorted by KFOR when they rotate shifts at the two crossings each day.
