A 24-year old miner has been killed in an accident in the Lubnica lignite mine near Zajecar (eastern Serbia), the city's police department released in a statement on Monday.

A 24-year old miner has been killed in an accident in the Lubnica lignite mine near Zajecar (eastern Serbia), the city's police department released in a statement on Monday.

The accident occurred in the Osojno-South pit late Sunday around 8 pm, the statement reads.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing, and the autopsy of the young man's body will be carried out during the day, by order of the investigative judge from the Basic Court in Zajecar.
