A painting of French post- impressionist Paul Cezanne worth EUR 100 million was found late Wednesday in Belgrade, thanks to an extensive operation carried out by the Service for the Fight against Organized Crime (SBPOK) and the Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime, Radio-Television of Serbia (RTS) reported.
Three suspects were arrested during the operation that was carried out in Belgrade and Cacak.
The Serbian police cooperated with their colleagues from several countries and the preparations lasted for several months.
So far it has not been confirmed which Cezanne's painting was recovered, but it is most probably his "Boy in the Red Vest" that was stolen from the Zurich museum in 2008 together with Edgar Degas, Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet's works.
According to RTS, a Swiss expert, who should confirm that this is indeed the painting considered a Swiss national treasure, is expected to come to Belgrade.
