U.S. factory AM General is completing the works on 21 armoured Hummer vehicle which would be delivered to the Serbian Army.

The vehicles will be used for the training of Serbian troops for participation in peacekeeping missions and would constitute the continuation of procuring equipment for the Special Brigade. Serbian Ambassador in the U.S. Vladimir Petrovic and his associates visited the company's plant in the U.S. state of Indiana where they conferred with AMG leadership about further cooperation with Serbian businessmen, Tanjug learnt in the Serbian Embassy in Washington.

Representatives of the U.S. company expressed interest in visiting Kragujevac, central Serbia, and taking a tour of the factory Zastava Kamioni as a potential partner in the production of Hummer vehicles in Europe. The vehicles will be paid from the assistance which the Serbian Army received from the U.S. fund for international assistance.

The project represents the outcome of the agreement between the Serbian Defence Ministry and the U.S. Department for Defence, which was initiated by Defence Minister Dragan Sutanovac during his visit to Washington in 2011.

Early in April, Sutanovac announced that he would continue procuring equipment, including Hummer vehicles, for the needs of the Serbian Army Special Brigade. The minister announced that the U.S. vehicles would arrive during the summer.
