Kuwait's government handed in its resignation on Thursday, as a fresh political crisis brewed in the oil-rich emirate, State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Rudhan al-Rudhan announced.

Kuwait's government handed in its resignation on Thursday, as a fresh political crisis brewed in the oil-rich emirate, State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Rudhan al-Rudhan announced.

The move came after MPs filed motions to question three ministers (of economy, foreign affairs and information), all members of Kuwait's Al-Sabah ruling family, over a variety of allegations ranging from corruption to failure to perform their duties, the AFP reported.

Parliamentary sources said the cabinet submitted its resignation to avoid parliament questioning ministers, the Reuters reported.

"The ministers submitted the resignation to the prime minister, who will refer it to the emir," a parliamentary source told Reuters.

Kuwait's parliament has triggered numerous cabinet resignations or reshuffles through questionings.

Sources said they expected the ruling emir, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah, to reappoint Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser al-Mohammad al-Sabah to form another cabinet.
