Recycling is a very profitable market in developed countries. In the global recycling market annual turnover amounts to approximately USD 160 billion. Although still not regulated, the number of companies registered for recycling activities has grown from 60 to nearly 300 over the past several years. In the European Union, an average of about 60 percent of waste is processed while Serbia processes only eight percent.
- In what way does the State intend to establish a waste management system?
- Does Serbia have local and regional strategic plans for waste management?
- What does the approach of local governments to solving waste management problems mean?
- What is the role of the private sector in waste management and environmental protection?
- How is the State fighting the grey market and untrustworthy competition in the field of recycling and placement of secondary raw materials?
- Are State subsidies and concession an appropriate solution for introducing a payable waste management system?
These and many other important issues will be discussed at the Forum, which will gather together representatives of the Government of Serbia, renowned experts from the fields of ecology, recycling and waste management, as well as domestic and foreign companies from the sector.
