Telenor has presented the CSR Report for 2010, including a review of activities focused on the children’s safety at the Internet, environmental protection, improvement of the position of vulnerable social groups, investments in education and art. Last year, Telenor launched and supported more than 30 projects in those areas with more than 50 partners.

“A special value of our corporate responsibility, based on care for people, is long-term partnerships and initiatives, which help us establish a balance between market demands, needs of the society and environmental protection,” says Kjell Morten Johnsen, CEO of Telenor in Serbia.

In its work on projects, Telenor cooperates with the governmental and non-governmental sector, local self-governments, and international organisations. Results are measurable and their evaluation serves to define a future approach and include new partners in new projects.

Telenor established partnership with the Ministry of Health and UNICEF at the “Connecting” project, where work of 60 healthcare mediators in providing support to Roma families in 50 cities has been improved by introducing modern technologies.

In cooperation with the Centre for Quality Education, the Social Club for youth with disabilities was established in u Kragujevac, with an aim to support their social inclusion. Telenor employees participated in equipping the Club with furniture, IT devices, Internet, and educational and entertaining materials. As a result, the project has become self-sustainable, since the City of Kragujevac has assumed the responsibility for its further financing.

By providing the equipment for the organisation for the protection of rights and support to persons with disabilities “Iz kruga”, this organisation now has a comprehensive database and can register calls of all help line users. The number of help line users who have been provided with support has increased by 10%.

The most significant project in the area of environmental protection is the opening of the first hybrid base station, using sun and wind energy. In cooperation with the Balkan Community Initiatives Fund, the “Planetise - recycle” project was implemented in 21 cities last year, aimed at raising awareness on the significance of waste sorting and recycling.

Investments in young talents were continued last year, by granting the traditional “Prof. Dr Ilija Stojanović“ Award in the area of telecommunications, and supporting the Petnica Research Station.
