The daily Dnevnik has named catering company Vivo, software company Microsoft Slovenija and caravan maker Adria Mobil the best employers in Slovenia among small, medium-sized and large companies, respectively.

The award ceremony was addressed by President Danilo Türk, who said that in times of crisis, the efforts of preserving and creating jobs were not limited merely to companies but encompassed societies as a whole.

Labour Ministry State Secretary Patricija Čular said that the ministry's main objective for 2012 was to reduce unemployment. It will adopt measures to improve the employment opportunities for the young, and overhaul labour legislation.

The jury awarded Vivo for the third year in a row, saying its business is not attractive, but it nonetheless has all the traits of an excellent company: a great leader with high moral standards, motivated employees and good development prospects.

Microsoft Slovenija has ranked at the top of the best employers' list for years, which the jury believes indicates continuous care for the employees in spite of changes at the top. The company is an example of a successful multinational corporation that has managed to adapt to Slovenian characteristics.
