FYRMacedonia, "Gazprom" discuss "South Stream" involvement

President Gjorge Ivanov and Vice Premier/Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski met Thursday in Saint Petersburg with Gazprom Director-General Alexei Miller. The meeting also focused on FYRMacedonia's involvement in significant international transit corridor "South Stream", with a possibility of constructing a branch passing through the country's territory.
President Gjorge Ivanov and Vice Premier/Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski met Thursday in Saint Petersburg with Gazprom Director-General Alexei Miller.
Interlocutors voiced satisfaction from the due signing of the agreement regarding Russia's clearing debt, thus enabling enhancement of cooperation between FYRMacedonia and the Russian Federation in the energy sector and creating conditions for Gazprom to take part in the construction of a gas pipeline network in Macedonia, reads Vice Premier's Cabinet press release.
The meeting also focused on FYRMacedonia's involvement in significant international transit corridor "South Stream", with a possibility of constructing a branch passing through the country's territory.
Moreover, the meeting tackled the partnership between the Russian energy giant and FYRMacedonia in the construction of gas power plants.
Gazprom and Government teams will start immediately the work on harmonization of technical issues, reads the press release.
