Chaos is reigning in the Athens port of Piraeus this morning, where union members and militants are blocking the departure of ferries in protest against the reform of coastal navigation as part of the austerity plan.
Interruptions are expected today also in railway transport due to on-and-off work suspensions by OSE members.
The blocking of the Piraeus port called today by the communist union Pame against pension reform and the labour market will arrive in Parliament on Monday.
Unions have been holding two ships of the Italian company Adriatic Lines for 16 days in the Corinth port in protest against Greek government inertia despite two injunctions by the Piraeus court ordering an end to the illegal blocking.
Pame will be putting on a demonstration in Athens today, and a separate protest has been called against reforms also by the unions of the public sector, Adedy, and its private sector counterpart Gsee, who have called a general strike on June 29.
Lawyers will also be on strike until Friday.
