Ivanov meets government officials ahead of Brussels visit

The Macedonian President in Brussels is expected to meet with President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy, European Commission's President Jose Manuel Barroso, EU's High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Policy Catherine Ashton, EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule, as well as with other EU officials.
Reforms in judiciary and administration, the breakthrough made in terms of economic criteria, the pre-accession economic program, laws aimed to improve most of the areas and the process of harmonizing the Macedonian legislation with EU's, were some of the topics discussed at Friday's meeting between President Gjorge Ivanov and Vice PM for European Affairs Vasko Naumovski, Vice PM and Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski, Foreign Minister Antonio Milososki and Minister of Justice Mihajlo Manevski.
Government officials informed Ivanov on FYRMacedonia's latest achievements in several areas prior to his visit to Brussels, where he will meet with top EU officials ahead of this year's European Commission report on FYRMacedonia.
- Surely, President Ivanov with his visit to Brussels will make efforts Macedonia to be objectively presented and to lobby for a positive report and kick-start of EU membership talks, Vice PM Naumovski stated after the meeting.
Ivanov's visit to Brussels, he added, comes in an extremely crucial period.
- He will meet with top EU officials where the President will have the chance to present the reform process in Macedonia on the eve of the EC progress report, due to be unveiled in early November, stressed Naumovski.

This is the first time Ivanov to meet some of the ministers. Several meetings with other ministers are planned in order President Ivanov to be better informed about Government's efforts made in a bid Macedonia to join EU.
