Bulgaria to add grey economy to GDP

Bulgaria’s black economy has hovered around 10-12% of GDP over the past years, which makes BGN 6 billion out of BGN 60 billion, according to NSI In September, the NSI revised its GDP data for the past 15 years, adding 0.1% to the figure for most of the years.

Bulgaria’s National Statistical Institute (NSI) will adopt a new method of calculating the country’s GDP that will take the shadow economy into account, NSI chief Mariana Kotseva told a session of the parliamentary budgetary committee yesterday.
