Many parts of the town of Skadar are flooded due to heavy rain that is falling for days in northern Albania, so that measures are taken to help the endangered citizens.

An irregular Albanian government session was held in Skadar on Tuesday evening, when country’s Prime Minister Salji Berisa announced that an evacuation plan will be implemented, and instructed that hotels and other objects for the accommodation of the citizens be prepared.

About 250 houses and more than 4,000 hectares of arable land in Skadar are under water, the ATA News Agency reports.

It is raining heavily in whole Albania, but the situation is currently most critical in Skadar, especially in the lower parts of the town.

We will supply food and medications for the citizens of the areas affected by floods, Berisa stated.
