The arrest is connected to the financial police’s recent control of the building which is home to the A1 television and about 30 other companies, including dailies Vreme and Spic which are indirectly related to the A1’s owner.

The private A1 television released on Thursday night that its owner Velija Ramkovski and Director Aneta Kociski were arrested.

According to A1, about 10 members of the police’s Quick Interventions Unit entered television yard and arrested the owner and the Director.

The arrest is connected to the financial police’s recent control of the building which is home to the A1 television and about 30 other companies, including dailies Vreme and Spic which are indirectly related to the A1’s owner.

Ramkovski described the control as an attack on democracy and freedom of speech.

Spokesperson for the Macedonian Interior Ministry Ivo Kotevski confirmed, without mentioning any names, that nine people were arrested in the action related with the so-called Pero Nakov 6.6 case, noting that among them was the person considered to be at the top of the pyramid.

The arrested are suspected of criminal conspiracy and several other criminal acts such as misuse of official position, money laundering, tax evasion and other.

Allegedly, some of the arrested were getting ready to flee the country. The person at the top of the pyramid will be detained by the police for the next 24 hours, and questioned over the accusations afterwards.
