The UN mediator had made his recent formal contacts with the two parties in February and March 2009, when he visited Skopje and Athens, as well as in September when he met with President Gjorge Ivanov, Greek PM George Papandreou and FM Dimitris Droutsas in New York at the sideline of the UN General Assembly.
UN mediator in the name talks between Macedonia and Greece, Matthew Nimetz, will meet with countries' representatives - Zoran Jolevski and Adamantios Vassilakis - on January 27 in New York, Foreign Ministry's officials confirm for MIA.
Last week, Foreign Minister Antonio Milososki said that Macedonia had immediately accepted Nimetz's offer for a new meeting, while Greece's response was being awaited.
This past Saturday, President Gjorge Ivanov stated that Nimetz was expected to boost the process and a solution to the dispute to be finally found.
"We believe a solution will be found and that is why we take part in the process. We are always constructive and provide our proposals", Ivanov said.

Ivanov: We believe a name solution will be found
A meeting between UN Special Envoy Matthew Nimetz and representatives of Macedonia and Greece, Zoran Jolevski and Ademantios Vasilakis respectively, over the bilateral name dispute is possible by the end of January, said Saturday President Gjorge Ivanov.
According to him, such a meeting is expected to accelerate the process, resulting in a solution to the issue that has burdened Macedonia for two decades.
"We believe a solution will be found and that is why we take part in the process. We are always constructive and provide our proposals", said Ivanov.

Why is Macedonia negosiating its constitutional name?Greece does not even recognises its indigenouse Macedonian minority. Before any furthere negosiations take place, the Republic of Macedonia must demand the recognition of the Macedonian minority in Greece,or,stop these negosiations immediatly. Why should Macedonia change its name when the people are Macedonian for centuries. There is no problem for the Macedonian people being Macedonian, the problem is Greeces inability to recognise its minorities for political and historical reasons...Greeces history is fabricated.

Before harassing ethnic Greeks (i.e. the indigenous people of Greece) you should look into FYROM's ethnic Bulgarian past (that the current extremist and racist government if FYROM shamefully oppresses)
"And, anyway, what sort of new Macedonian nation can this be when we and our fathers and grandfathers and great-grandfathers have always been called Bulgarians?" - Krste Misirkov, "On Macedonian Matters", Macedonian Review Editions 1974, (Sofia 1903)
When you get to grips with your own Bulgarian past, then Greeks will start to take FYROM seriously. Until then, get a life.

You Vardar Slavs should stop trying to usurp the true Hellenistic past and present of what it ruly means to be a Macedonian. i am of Macedonian descent which is Greek, and i take offense at FYROM's trying to call themselves something that they are not. You FYROM's speak a dialect of Bulgarian and your church was created by the state when you were part of Yugoslavia (it is still to this day not even recognised by the other Orthodox chrches). You FYROM Varar Slavs need to finally admit to yourselves that you are not Macedinians and stop calling yourselves this. some of you have been saying so loudly for so long that you actually believe it. Macedonia is Hellenistic. Macedonia is Greece.
