PM Gruevski visits US

PM Gruevski will focus on the reforms aimed at meeting European and Euro-Atlantic standards, realizing of Macedonia's aspiration for EU and NATO accession, which is the Government's strategic goal.
Reaffirmation of the US-Macedonia friendship, presentation of Skopje reform efforts and the name row with Greece are the main topics on the agenda of Wednesday's meeting of US Vice-President Joseph Biden, State Secretary Hillary Clinton and Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, MIA reports from Washington.
PM Gruevski will focus on the reforms aimed at meeting European and Euro-Atlantic standards, realizing of Macedonia's aspiration for EU and NATO accession, which is the Government's strategic goal.
The meeting will also welcome the excellent political relations and possibilities for the further development of the bilateral cooperation, as a step forward to upgrading the strategic partnership agreement.
Biden and Gruevski, who is accompanied by Foreign Minister Antonio Milososki, Ambassador Zoran Jolevski and Cabinet chief Martin Protoger, will also refer to the name issue. The Macedonian delegation will stress the Government's commitment to settling the outstanding issue with Greece, thus unblocking the country's accession to the EU and NATO.
Ahead of the talks with Biden and Clinton, Gruevski will meet Philip Gordon, Assistant State Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs.
Today, Gruevski is also scheduled to meet Steven Knapp, president of George Washington University, to exchange opinions over the forms of continuous development of the higher education, as well as overtaking US experiences that could be applied in Macedonia.
In the course of the Washington stay, Gruevski is set to meet with US Senators and Congressmen.
Gruevski's visit to the US has been prepared since last August, while the date for his meeting with Biden, as US Ambassador to Macedonia Philp Reeker said recently, was set before the New Year.
