According to the sources, the head of state went to BNR at about 4 :00 p.m. « It is not the first time when the president has tried to convince Isarescu, the question is if he can » the sources said. On the other hand, sources in the BNR stated that the discussion between Basescu and Isarescu would be about debts and they did not discuss political matters.
On Monday at 7 :00 p.m., president Basescu discussed at Vila Lac 1 with premier Emil Boc and leaders of the PDL,sources inside PDL saying that they discussed the variant of replacing the premier and Emil Boc announced his mandate for a new time as leader of the PDL.
On Sunday night, president Basescu met leaders of branches of PDL, the discussions going on for hours, sources said. The Gandul daily writes that Traian Basescu met with leaders of the PDL during the day of Monday as well.
Traian Basescu announced, at the beginning of last week in a show of the public television the intention to discuss with the leaders of PDL branches, in the perspective of domestic elections, programmed at mid May.
We remind the fact that Mugur Isarescu held the position of premier between December 1999 – December 2000 but the coalition when in power lost the elections in November 2000 and he went back to his position as BNR governor. For the elections on November 2000, he was a candidate for presidency, getting 9.54% of the votes.
