The government saw its rating drop to anther all-time low in the aftermath of the failed mini jobs referendum and the escalating government crisis, according to the April poll by Ninamedia, which also shows that the pension reform will be voted down.
The government's approval rating topped out at 14.1%, down over a percentage point compared to the month before, shows the Vox Populi poll released by broadcaster POP TV on Sunday.
Prime Minister Borut Pahor has staked the government's future on the success of the 5 June pension reform referendum, which looks set to be voted down.
Less than a third of the respondents said they would back the pension reform law whereas over 42% plan to vote against.
The government's dwindling support is reflected in the party ratings, where the opposition is gaining ground.
Having slipped last month, the Democrats gained over three points to 18.7%, while the ruling Social Democrats (SD) are far behind in runner-up position, having lost over a point to 10.3%.
The coalition Pensioners' Party (DeSUS), which opposes the pension reform and plans to leave the coalition, was level at 6.5%.
The opposition National Party (SNS) soared over two points to 6.1% and the People's Party (SLS) lost a point to 3.8%.
The coalition Zares and Liberal Democrats (LDS) inched a bit lower to 2.1% and 2.9% respectively.
Over a quarter of the respondents plan to stay home on polling day and nearly two-fifths are undecided.
The list of the most popular politicians is still led by President Danilo Tuerk, whose rating climbed over the previous month.
European Environment Commissioner Janez Potocnik remains in second place; he is being billed as the best candidate for prime minister in case the government falls apart and a caretaker cabinet needs to take over.
Prime Minister Pahor dropped from 14th to 21st.
The poll, which involved 700 respondents, was conducted between 18 and 21 April.
