Romania: Average net wages, down 1.1pct in March 2011 from March 2010

Average net wages in Romania declined 1.1 percent in March 2011 from March 2010, in nominal terms, with the real wage index in March 2011 being 91.6 percent of the March 2010 figures, the National Statistics Institute (INS) reports in a press release.

The real wage index is a ratio of the average net wages toil the general index of consumer prices.

In March 2011, the average gross wage was RON 2,056, up 5.8 percent form February 2011, while the average net wage was RON 1,493, up 5.6 percent on a monthly basis.

The real wages index in March 2011 was 105 percent of the February 2011 value.

The data carried in the release have an error margin of plus/minus 3 percent. They reflect the information collected from 25,000 business operators
