More tourists flock to Croatia this June

The number of tourists in June has grown 20.8 per cent over last year, the Ministry of Tourism has announced.

There were 1.4 million foreign and 0.2 million Croatians spending their vacation in Zagreb and the Adriatic coast, daily Vecernji List writes.

Istria registered the biggest increase of 27 per cent, followed by Lika-Senj County, Kvarner and Zagreb. The biggest increases were registered among visitors from Germany and Austria, while fewer than expected guests from Japan, Greece and France came this year.

Minister of Tourism Damir Bajs warned about the importance of investment in continental tourism and touristically underdeveloped areas.

Although the number of investors in continental tourism quadrupled over the last three years, the share this branch occupies in tourism on the whole remains at only five per cent.
