Due to lack of quorum, the Croatian parliament has not passed a bill on annulment of legal acts of the former Yugoslav People's Army (JNA), the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY) and Serbia on Friday.
Due to lack of quorum, the Croatian parliament has not passed a bill on annulment of legal acts of the former Yugoslav People's Army (JNA), the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY) and Serbia on Friday.
During the Thursday debate, the bill met with wide disapproval of the opposition and the Independent Democratic Serb Party MPs who qualified it as detrimental to citizens of Croatia and the Croatian-Serbian relations. For that reason, opposition MPs failed to appear in the Croatian parliament on Friday.
On Thursday, the Croatian government put forward for the adoption the bill on annulment of legal acts of the former JNA, SFRY and Serbia, which accuse or convict Croatian citizens of crimes committed in the 1990s war, and a draft declaration which envisages prosecution of those who committed war crimes.
This declaration calls on Serbia to sign an international agreement, in keeping with the international law, in order to secure an effective cooperation in prosecution and punishment of war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocides.
