More than 30 people in Croatia, including several doctors, are under investigation for disability pension fraud, a source close to the investigation said on Friday.
Most suspects allegedly bribed with up to EUR 5,000 doctors on a board approving and reviewing disability pensions.
All those arrested will be questioned at the Office for the Suppression of Corruption and Organised Crime in Zagreb, whose prosecutors will then decide for whom to request one month's detention.
According to unofficial information, detention will be requested for the doctors, who are suspected of conspiracy, bribe-taking and abuse of office. About 30 pensions are at issue.
The media speculate that eight doctors have been arrested in Varazdin and Zagreb.
