Bosnian Serb President Milorad Dodik was hospitalised in Banja Luka Sunday for exhaustion, a hospital said in a statement, AFP reported.

"The exhaustion is the consequence of (Dodik's) daily activities," it said, adding he was to remain in the northwestern Bosnian town's hospital for observation.

"Routine diagnostic procedures are underway that are confirming the reason of his hospitalisation," the statement said. More information on Dodik's health would be released Monday.

Dodik was hospitalised a day after he was re-elected head of his Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) party.
