Eurostat: Unemployment in Greece at 12.5% in 2010

The highest umemployment in a Greek region was recorded in western Macedonia (Dytiki Makedonia), at 15.5 percent in 2010, according to figures released here on Thursday by Eurostat.

The highest umemployment in a Greek region was recorded in western Macedonia (Dytiki Makedonia), at 15.5 percent in 2010, according to figures released here on Thursday by Eurostat.

Additionally, umemployment surged to 14.8 percent in the Ionian Islands, up from 9.7 percent in 2009.

On the whole, unemployment in the country stood at 12.5 percent in 2010, up from 9.5 percent in 2009.
