Seven persons were injured in a first explosion at nightclub in Sighetu Marmatiei (northern Romania) Saturday night, with six of them having been flown by a military plane to Bucharest for specialised care, as their condition was serious.
A second explosion in the same club early on Sunday injured another 10 people, while an investigating team was inside, trying to establish the causes of the first blast.
Health Ministry Under Secretary of State Dr. Raed Arafat is accompanying the Bucharest-based emergency health service SMURD on its second flight to the northern town to evacuate the victims of the second blast.
'We do not know if all (the victims) require evacuation, but the airplane we fly by is ready to carry ten persons in a critical condition. We have a team of several SMURD doctors and nurses', Dr. Arafat stressed.
He added at least four of the second blast victims are in a serious condition.
The Bucharest Hospital for Burns can take at least three more patients in its intensive care unit, while the capital's Floreasca Emergency Hospital can accept the rest, Dr. Arafat said.
The Bucharest Hospital specialised in burns treatment is already crowded by critical cases, as a 52-year-old man was brought from central Abrud early on Sunday with serious burns after the gas can in his home exploded. The doctors say he has little chances of surviving.
