"Ivo Andris is one of the greatest writers in this part of Europe, and he deserves not just a bust, but his own town, and institute. He deserves to have the institute be imbued with the spirit of Ivo Andric, the research of young people and scientific institutions, and we need to establish a literary award which will be around for a long time to come," said Tadic.
The project connects past, present and future, all cultures which have existed in the area, acknowledging every cultural and architectural contribution, he said.
It is perfectly natural, believes Tadic, to bring all these contributions and cultures together through the person and work of
Ivo Andric. Kusturica said the town was a symbol of the desire to make up for and complete missed history lessons - the Renaissance period, which is the only thing missing in the Serb people's European spirit.
This will institutionalize the defense of our tradition and bring it to a logical point, added Kusturica. Dodik pointed out the whole project would be realized by joint efforts of Republika Srpska and Serbia. "This will be a place which will best preserve all the values of our national culture. The joint efforts of both governments are making this project happen," said Dodik.
