Thirty-six parties apply to contest elections

The applications will now be considered by the Supreme Court (Areios Pagos), which is expected to rule on which parties will make the ballot by April 25. In 2009, five of the 29 applications from parties were rejected.

A total of 36 parties, coalitions and individual candidates have applied to contest the May 6 general election.
