Deputy Prime Minister for EU Integration Bozidar Djelic met with representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation, within the third revision of the stand-by arrangement with Serbia.

Djelic presented them with the efforts that our country is in the process of European integration.

Djelic stressed the commitment of this government respecting the arrangement with the financial institutions, especially in regard to commitments concerning the limitations of growth of wages and pensions, and other fiscal expenditures.

He said that the law on fiscal accountability precisely defines criteria to limit budget expenditures and thus improve budget planning and control, which leads to stability and predictability of medium term fiscal system in Serbia.

The Deputy Prime Minister informed the expert team of the IMF about the steps taken by the government in order to increase the degree of competitiveness of Serbian economy.

The Serbian government in January approved a set of recommendations of the National Council for Competitiveness, which should improve the business environment, increase the attractiveness of Serbia as a destination for investment and contribute to increasing exports.
