The camp of Serb returnees in the village of Zac, near Istok, northern Kosmet, at which automatic fire was opened two days ago, has since last night been guarded by tens of KFOR Slovenian soldiers.

Under full war equipment and with several armoured vehicles, they are guarding an area of several hectares and there have been no incidents since their deployment in the camp.

The Serb returnees told Tanjug they had been informed by the police that two Albanians were arrested on suspicion of shooting at the camp and that one of them had confessed to the attack.

Serbian Minister for Kosmet Goran Bogdanovic assessed the attacks as part of a thought-out strategy of violence, aimed at expelling again Serbs from their homesteads.

In the past 10 days, fire from automatic weapons has been opened twice at the camp with 22 Serb returnees.
