China Development Bank (CDB) is interested in taking part, together with Serbia, in the project of Belene nuclear power plant in Bulgaria, CDB Vice Governor Gao Jian stated in Belgrade.
We have already discussed this project in Bulgaria and we are interested in it, Gao told the journalists after the talks with Serbian Minister of Energy and Mining Petar Skundric and the ministry's delegation in Belgrade. Skundric pointed out that he talked with the Chinese delegation about all possible forms of cooperation in the area of energy, adding that the talks are a good support to Serbia's energy sector.
"We discussed the possible cooperation between Serbia and China in the area of energy, as well as the most favorable financial arrangements and projects," Skundric said, adding that the arrangements envisage commercial loans and market-based business, but under more favorable conditions when compared to the majority of loans granted by banks to Serbia's energy sector.
Gao Jian said that CDB and the Chinese government should help Serbia's economic recovery and establish cooperation with Serbia based on market principles.
We want to share our experience in economic investments with our Serbian friends, taking into account that Serbia and China have had friendly relations for a long time, he stressed.
