The UN Security Council will convene Tuesday for a session on Kosovo-Metohija, with Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic in attendance.

Jeremic will present Serbia's stance following the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), and UNMIK Chief Lamberto Zannier will submit his quarterly report on the situation in Kosovo, the Serbian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The UN Security Council session comes shortly after the ICJ issued its opinion stating that Kosovo's declaration of independence is not in violation of international law.

However, the court's decision did not include an opinion on the consequences of the secession or on the legality of the recognition of Kosovo's independence.

Last week, Serbia submitted a resolution to the UN Security Council explicitly stating that unilateral secession is not an acceptable way of solving territorial disputes and encouraging a solution through dialogue.

The resolution also calls for dialogue as a way of reaching compromise solutions on all open issues.

Minister Jeremic visited New York last week, where he discussed the situation in Kosovo with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, and met with officials from countries in the Non-Aligned Movement.

Jeremic met with over 50 officials from countries that have not recognized Kosovo but are under pressure to do so.
