Serbian Minister of Interior Ivica Dacic and Uruguayan Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Roberto Conde signed on Monday evening Memorandum on police cooperation in the fight against organized crime, especially against drug trafficking.

Serbian Minister of Interior Ivica Dacic and Uruguayan Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Roberto Conde signed on Monday evening Memorandum on police cooperation in the fight against organized crime, especially against drug trafficking.

Dacic and Conde signed the document at the Belgrade Airport, and pointed out that the paper will help establish an even better cooperation between the two countries.

Deputy Prime Minister Dacic stated that it is in Serbia's vital interest to develop police cooperation with Latin American countries, because fair number of members of criminal groups from the former Yugoslavia can be found in this region.

The criminal groups are involved in drug trafficking, via Serbia and further on towards Western Europe, said Dacic and pointed to the international police operation dubbed "Balkan Warrior", in which more than two tons of cocaine were seized in a joint operation of the security forces of Serbia, the US and Uruguay.

Conde emphasized that the Memorandum signed with Serbia will contribute to the mutual fight not only against drug trafficking but also against other serious criminal acts.
