GDP increases by 2% in second quarter of 2010

In the second quarter of 2010, GDP increased by 2 percent when compared to the same time last year, while in the first half of 2010 it amounted to 1.2 percent in comparison to the corresponding period of the previous year, the Serbian Statistical Office said in a statement on Thursday.

In the second quarter of 2010, the highest growth in the gross value added was recorded in sectors of financial intermediation - 6.9 percent, transport - 6.6 percent, mining and quarrying - 10.4 percent, and manufacturing - 5.7 percent.
The greatest drop in the gross value added was recorded in construction - 11.9 percent, and the sector of hotels and restaurants - 8 percent, reads the statement.
