Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic on Nov. 10 said the cabinet will draw up a plan that will enable Serbia to make progress in the areas that received poor marks in the European Commission report.

Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic on Nov. 10 said the cabinet will draw up a plan that will enable Serbia to make progress in the areas that received poor marks in the European Commission report.

Cvetkovic said the report mentioned considerable progress in different fields, but also contained numerous objections that need to be tackled in the future.

"We will compose an Action Plan that will enable progress to be made in those areas over the next few months. The final goal is to obtain the status of a candidate country by the end of next year," the prime minister said.

Asked about the problem of the transportation of goods tariffed in Kosovo, Cvetkovic replied that a solution should be found in the spirit of U.N. Security Council Resolution 1244.

Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic said the Action Plan will be adopted before the arrival of EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele on Nov. 24, when Belgrade will receive the Questionnaire for the status of a candidate country.

"The Action Plan recognizes challenges and represents a reform program for the next year, but primarily for the first half of 2011," Djelic explained.
