Students of the University in Belgrade will go on a hunger strike and gather in front of the Serbian government building on Monday, becuase their requests concerning government budget funding have not been fulfilled.

The hunger strike will begin symbolically at a minute before noon, student prorector of the University of Arts Nikola Radek told Tanjug. He emphasized that about twenty students have so far enlisted for the strike.

The students' main request, which they have informed the Ministry of Education about on several occasions, is to ensure government budget funding for all those who have obtained at least 48 ECTS-credits in the previous school year.

The students have already organized multiple protest walks on the streets of Belgrade, the last one being on November 23.

Officials from the Serbian government, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development have refused to discuss the issue with the academics.
