Elections will be repeated in five municipalities in Kosovo

The Elections Complaints and Appeals Panel decided on Thursday to annul the results of the voting on 21 polls in five municipalities in Kosovo due to the irregularities during the voting at the early parliamentary elections held on December 12.

The Elections Complaints and Appeals Panel decided on Thursday to annul the results of the voting on 21 polls in five municipalities in Kosovo due to the irregularities during the voting at the early parliamentary elections held on December 12.

Kosovo Central Election Commission (CEC) will appoint new presidents of election boards and increase supervision during the voting process. CEC President Valjdete Daka announced that elections in these polls will be repeated on January 9, 2011.

According to CEC's preliminary results, Hasim Taci's Democratic Party of Kosovo won the largest number of votes, the Democratic Alliance of Kosovo ranked second, the Self-Determination Movement ranked third, whereas Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and New Kosovo Alliance took fourth and fifth place respectively.
