The relations between Serbia and Turkey have reached their highest point in history, Parliament Speaker Djukic-Dejanovic and her Turkish colleague Mehmet Ali Sahin said in Ankara.
Sahin noted that mutual visits by the countries' top officials had helped achieve that, according to a release from Dejanovic's office.
Sahin described Dejanovic's visit as important, because it is the first visit to Turkey by a speaker of the National Assembly. He also welcomed the Serbian parliament resolution that condemned the 1995 massacre in Srebrenica.
The two parliaments have good relations, especially in terms of friendship groups, but they could improve when it comes to committees on foreign affairs, EU integration and economy, said Dejanovic.
"The two nations' closeness is the most important bridge for cooperation between Serbia and Turkey, but it also helps strengthen the region," the Serbian official noted.
The Serbian delegation includes Bajram Omeragic, the head of the Serbia-Turkey parliamentary friendship group, and member of that group Meho Omerovic.
