The European Union has paid a EUR 50 million tranche of its non-repayable aid to the Serbian budget, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic told Tanjug.

The European Union has paid a EUR 50 million tranche of its non-repayable aid to the Serbian budget, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic told Tanjug.

This payment brings the total assistance from the Instrument of Pre-Accession funds up to EUR 100 million for the year.

"The EUR 50 million will help us wrap up this hard budget year," Djelic said, and added that Serbia is the only Western Balkan country which received non-repayable budget assistance from Brussels.

According to him, the Ministry of Finance will decide how the funds will be spent.

Djelic announced that Serbia will get macro-financial aid in the amount of EUR 100 million next year, but in the form of a favourable loan rather than non-repayable aid.
