Deputy President of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) Aleksandar Vucic expressed expectation on Friday that 2011 will be an election year, and announced that the SNS has collected 300,000 citizens' signatures for amendments to the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia, which will be filed to the Serbian parliament early in January.
“We are ready to do anything civilized and democratic for the citizens to get an opportunity to change the government, since the current authorities have lost their legitimacy,” Vucic said, and qualified the development plan by the Democratic Party (DS) dubbed Serbia 2020 as throwing dust into the eyes of the public, by making once again promises they cannot fulfill.
He believes that having 'enormous hunger for power', the ruling coalition will not reduce the number of the MPs and administration.
The SNS launched the action of collecting citizens' signatures for constitutional changes, which would entail reduction in the number of MPs and costs incurred by the parliament.
