Several important events for Serbia's integration in the European Union are scheduled for next week in Strasbourg, including the adoption of a resolution on Serbia by the European Parliament and ratification of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) between the EU and Serbia.

Several important events for Serbia's integration in the European Union are scheduled for next week in Strasbourg, including the adoption of a resolution on Serbia by the European Parliament and ratification of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) between the EU and Serbia.

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister for EU Integration Bozidar Djelic will address the European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee Monday evening to present Serbia's plans for 2011 regarding the EU integration process.

He will inform MEPs on Serbia's expectations for getting the status of candidate for EU membership and for starting pre-accession negotiations.

Djelic will also speak about Serbia's plans regarding the Danube Strategy.

The main event for Serbia's EU integration is scheduled for Tuesday, when the European Parliament is expected to ratify the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) between the EU and Serbia.

SAA, which Djelic signed on April 28, 2008, has been ratified so far by 13 EU member-states, the first of them Spain on June 21, 2010, and the others are expected to follow suit soon.

On Wednesday, The European Parliament will debate and vote on a resolution on Serbia to be submitted by Rapporteur Jelko Kacin.

Kacin's report on Serbia's progress, recommending SAA ratification, was adopted on December 1, 2010, by the Foreign Affairs Committee with 51 votes in favor, three against and two abstentions.
