The permanent delegation of the Serbian National Assembly will participate in the first part of the 2011 ordinary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Strasbourg on January 24-28.

The permanent delegation of the Serbian National Assembly will participate in the first part of the 2011 ordinary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Strasbourg on January 24-28.

On January 25, the PACE will debate and vote on the draft resolution regarding the report “Inhuman treatment of people and illicit trafficking in human organs in Kosovo” compiled by Rapporteur of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights Dick Marty.

Serbian assembly’s delegation formed a consensus within the delegation to support the Marty’s report on human organ trafficking in Kosovo and oppose any amendments that could diminish the significance of the document, representatives of parliamentary parties stated.

It is important for the delegation to adopt the report in its original form and drive forward the subsequent demands for an investigation.

The delegaton of the Serbian assembly will be headed by Dragoljub Micunovic, and will also comprise of Milos Aligrudic, Tomislav Nikolic, Zeljko Ivanji, Branko Ruzic, Milos Jevtic, Natasa Vuckovic, Elvira Kovac, Natasa Jovanovic, Bojan Kostres, Cedomir Jovanovic and Vjerica Radeta.

President of Serbia Boris Tadic will address the Assembly on January 26.

The head of the Serbian delegation in the Council of Europe’s Parliamentary Assembly, Dragoljub Mićunović, assessed there would not be enough MPs in the Parliament to attempt to prevent the adoption of a resolution based on Dick Marty’s report on traffic in organs of kidnapped Serbs in Kosmet and further investigation into the case.

At a meeting with representatives of the Association of the Families of Kidnapped and Missing Kosmet Serbs, Mićunović said the expected adoption of the resolution would be very important for the continuation of the investigation.

He emphasized there had been attempts lately at relativization of Marty’s erport and assessed some Albanian representatives as well would attempt at doing that, but expressed hope that it would be impossible to conceal the truth.

The president of the Serbian government’s Commission for Missing Persons, Veljko Odalović, said that the remains of 325 persons missing in Kosmet had been found so far and that it was being search for another 526 persons, most of whom were abducted after 10 June 1999.

Representatives of the Association of the Families of Kidnapped and Missing Kosmet Serbs emphasized that data on 144 locations of camps for kidnapped Kosmet Serbs had been submitted to KFOR, but that the international community has never reacted to that.
