Tadic meets with representatives of Serbs from region

Serbian President Boris Tadic and representatives of Serb organizations from the region's countries agreed on Tuesday in Belgrade that Serbs in the region must enjoy the same level of protection of their rights as ethnic communities in Serbia.

The talk focused on the importance of fostering and protection of the rights of Serbs in the region's countries, and on Serbia's firm commitment to the policy of good-neighborly relations and regional cooperation, the Serbian president's press office said.

The meeting focused on the recently adopted strategy for the fostering and enhancement of the relations between Serbia and its diaspora and Serbs in the region, and an analysis of the situation in those countries in the expectation of the population censuses.

Population censuses are to be held this year in Croatia, Macedonia, Slovenia, Albania, Montenegro, Hungary and Romania.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Serb organizations from Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, FYRMacedonia, Slovenia, Albania, Montenegro, Hungary and Romania, and Serbian Minister for the Diaspora Srdjan Sreckovic.

Serbs from Croatia were represented by President of the Independent Democratic Serb Party Vojislav Stanimirovic and by President of the Vukovar Joint Council of Municipalities Dragan Crnogorac.

Serbs from Montenegro were represented by Vice-President of the Socialist People's Party Radoman Gogic, Vice-President of the New Serb Democracy Goran Danilovic, President of the Democratic Serb Party Ranko Kadic, President of the People's Party Predrag Popovic, and Zoran Zizic i Vladimir Bozovic of the Serb Cultural Society in Montenegro.

Serbs from Bosnia-Herzegovina were represented by Republika Srpska (RS) President Milorad Dodik, Chairman of the Council of Ministers Nikola Spiric, Prijedor Mayor (Democratic People's Alliance) Marko Pavic, President of the RS Socialist Party Petar Djokic, President of the Serb Democratic Party Mladen Bosic, and President of the RS Veterans' Organization Pantelija Curguz.

Serbs from FYRMacedonia were represented by President of the Central Council of Serb Organizations in Macedonia Dejan Kosutic, President of the Serb Cultural and Information Center Spona Milutin Stancic, and President of the Serb Cultural, Information and Education Center Vuk Karadzic from Kuceviste Bogoljub Ninic.

Serbs from Slovenia were represented by President of the Association of Serb Societies in Slovenia Drago Vojvodic, and member of the Serb Cultural Center Danilo Kis from Ljubljana Petar Damjanic.

Serbs from Romania were represented by President of the Serb Association Slavomir Gvozdenovic.

Serbs from Albania were represented by member of the State Committee for Minorities Bledar Basanovic and President of the Association of Serb and Montenegrin Minority Moraca-Rozafa Pavle Jakoja.

Serbs from Hungary were represented by President of the Serb Self-Government in Hungary Ljubomir Aleksov.
