A delegation of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), which is a member of the World Bank Group, stated Tuesday the IFC was willing to support the development of Serbia's infrastructure through public-private partnerships (PPP).

Gulrez Hoda, IFC director of infrastructure and natural resources for Europe, Middle East and North America, and Serbia's Minister of Infrastructure Milutin Mrkonjic agreed to meet again and discuss the projects that would be supported by the IFC.

Mrkonjic told Tanjug that Serbia would begin realizing infrastructure projects very quickly with help from the IFC.

"What they are interested in are completely finished projects," said the minister, pointing out that the talks will also focus on the construction of a metro and bridges in Belgrade, as well as a bypass around the city.

Hoda said the IFC is interested in cooperation with Serbia and that all options and proposed projects will be reviewed in the coming period.

He said the IFC is involved in public-private partnerships on a global level, noting that the most important thing is that the risk is evenly distributed between the public and private sectors and that the partnerships are well-structured.

We agreed with the infrastructure minister that representatives from our PPP department will prepare a presentation relaying out experiences on a global level and what a well-structured PPP should look like, noted the IFC representative.

He said the IFC would consider various bridge and road construction projects, as well as a project for a Belgrade metro system
