First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic stated that the cooperation between the Serbian and American security services has been commended in talks with US officials in Washington.
Dacic, who is on a several-day visit to the United States, said in an interview to Cleveland Plain Dealer that they concluded that there is mutual wish to improve the relations, although their stances on Kosovo-Metohija differ.
Speaking about the report of the Council of Europe Special Rapporteur Dick Marty on the inhumane treatment of people and illicit trade in human organs in the province, Dacic said that US officials are in favour of a thorough investigation.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the United States agrees that the investigation should be conducted by EULEX, adding that only an independent, impartial investigation is acceptable to Serbia.
As for talks between Belgrade and Pristina, Dacic said that the Serbian side is ready to begin talks on all outstanding issues, such as car licence plates, personal ID cards and others.
Speaking about how diaspora can help Serbia, Dacic observed that a two-way relation is needed, which means that the Serbian community and Serbia should provide mutual assistance.
Serbia should take care of the rights and interests of the diaspora, such as the right to Serbian citizenship without giving up the citizenship which a person already has.
