Serbia and Italy to sign protocol on construction of power plants on Drina River

The governments of Serbia, Italy and Republika Srpska have already signed several agreements on cooperation in the exploitation of the hydro potential of the Drina River, which is said to be one of the best potentials for electricity production in entire Europe.

Leadership of the Electric Power Industry of Serbia (EPS) and Italian company SECI Energia will sign in Belgrade on Friday a preliminary agreement on cooperation in the sector of electric energy production through the project on system of hydroelectric power plants on the Drina River, the Serbian Ministry of Energy and Mining stated in a release on Thursday.

Following the signing of the document, reporters will be addressed by Serbian Minister of Energy and Mining Petar Skundric, Italian Minister for Economic Development Paolo Romani, EPS Director General Dragomir Markovic and Director of SECI Energia Gaetano Maccaferri.

The Serbian government will then host a meeting between delegations of Serbia and Italy, headed by Skundric and Romani, respectively.
