Minister of Labour and Social Policy Rasim Ljajic today opened a “Top Job” career fair at the Expocentre in New Belgrade, at which over 20 companies are offering employment.
Opening the fair, Ljajic said that this year 8,000 persons with disability are to be employed in Serbia, stressing that RSD 800 million has been set aside for this purpose.
Since last May, when the Law on the employment of persons with disabilities was adopted, as many as 5,500 disabled persons have been employed, while earlier only between 200 and 250 disabled persons were able to find jobs every year, he observed.
Ljajic recalled that the “Top Job” fair was first held last year when 1,000 unemployed people applied, and many of them managed to find jobs.
Minister of Youth and Sport Snezana Samardzic-Markovic said that this year’s career fair is primarily devoted to young people as they highlighted unemployment as a major problem.
Director of the National Employment Service Dejan Jovanovic noted that in 2011 the priority of his sector is youth employment and support to the most underdeveloped municipalities, stressing that the budget for 2011 envisages much higher funds for employment.
