The Serbian negotiating team is not trying to shun the possibility of discussing division of Kosovo, head of Serbia's negotiating team in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue Borko Stefanovic stated.

The Serbian negotiating team is not trying to shun the possibility of discussing division of Kosovo, head of Serbia's negotiating team in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue Borko Stefanovic stated.

“We are free to discuss all issues,” Stefanovic said in an interview for the Easter edition of the Belgrade-based daily Blic.

He noted that the other side should also adjust their approach to the end of “finding a solution and not to having Serbia verify their so-called independence because they will never get this.”

He believes that the status issue is comprised in each and every topic opened in the talks, but that the problem arises “when one of the sides, usually Pristina, insists on us (Serbia) to provide confirmation on their standpoint as regards the status.”

Stefanovic expects that no new topics would be opened in the fourth round of talks, but that those previously discussed should be resolved and closed one after another.

“We expect the EU to play an active role as well, especially when it comes to points of no convergence,” Stefanovic underlined.

He said that it is not realistic for the talks to last too long and that some of the key issues could be solved by the end of 2010 or in mid-2011, after which the core of relation regulation should be tackled.

“The dialogue has shown that the talks are difficult and results slight, but they still exist,” Stefanovic said.
