After a one-day drop, the dinar has again strengthened against the euro by 41 paras or 0.4 percent on Friday, thus setting the middle exchange rate at RSD 96.9270, the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) released.

On May 19, the central bank announced that it will purchase a total of EUR 40 million at the interbank foreign exchange market in the next 20 days, which it does on a daily basis but the data on daily purchases are not published.

NBS Governor Dejan Soskic explained the strengthening of the dinar by the fact that Serbia is receiving significant amounts from its citizens who live abroad, from donations, borrowing and direct foreign investments.
