EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton called on the Kosovo authorities and people to support the EULEX, stressing that the rule of law was essential for Kosovo's future.

All 27 members of the EU support EULEX completely, she noted. The rule of law is critical for Kosovo's future and its ambition to join the EU, Ashton told.

She met Prime Minister Hasim Taci and EULEX Head Xavier de Marnhac during her stay in Pristina. After her address to reporters at the EULEX headquarters, she left for Prizren, which will be the final stop on her visit to Kosovo.
