Serbian Deputy War Crimes Prosecutor Bruno Vekaric has stated that the report of ICTY Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz on Serbia's cooperation with the ICTY, which will be submitted to the UN Security Council (SC) Monday, will be much better than the previous ones and will represent a turning point for Serbia, as a huge job has been done.
Vekaric said that Brammertz will mention the considerable success of Serbian President Boris Tadic, National Security Council, Action Team and security services, but will also refer to the remaining ICTY indictee Goran Hadzic and the uncompleted obligation in that sense.
Vekaric announced for the Radio and Television of Serbia that Brammertz will also mention the regional cooperation.
Commenting the Prosecution's announcement to request permission to question indictee Ratko Mladic regarding the crime committed under the command of Naser Oric in Eastern Bosnia in 1992-1995, Vekaric said that astonishing data have been gathered regarding several hundreds of murdered Serb civilians.
"This crime is not encompassed by the ICTY indictment, and that is why we have the right to launch proceedings," Vekaric pointed out, recalling that the statute of limitations does not apply to war crimes.
"We have no right to forgive a single victim, and we will consult our colleagues from The Hague Tribunal regarding the issue," he underscored.
